OBDIspec.org is the website of the Open Bicycle Digital Identity (OBDI) Specification, an initiative working to develop open, interoperable standards for communicating authoritative information about bicycles and e-bikes.

The OBDI initiative is founded on a simple principle: information about a bicycle’s manufactured characteristics can be useful without identifying, tracking, or collecting personal information about the person who owns or rides it.
This Privacy Policy describes information collected through the OBDIspec.org website. As the OBDI specification and organization develop, this policy may be updated to reflect additional services or features.
Information We Collect
You may browse the public portions of OBDIspec.org without creating an account or providing personal information.
We may collect limited technical information that is normally transmitted when visiting a website, such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, requested pages, and date and time of access. This information may be used for website operation, security, troubleshooting, and aggregate usage analysis.

OBDI Bicycle and Product Information
The OBDI specification is intended to enable manufacturers and other trusted sources to communicate authoritative information about a bicycle or e-bike, such as manufacturer, model, serial or product identifier, model year, bicycle type, electrical system, drivetrain characteristics, regulatory classification, or other technical attributes.
A fundamental design objective of OBDI is to separate information about a bicycle from personally identifiable information about its owner or rider.
Publicly accessible OBDI bicycle information should describe the bicycle or product—not the identity, location, movements, or personal information of the person who owns or uses it.
OBDIspec.org does not use an OBDI identifier, NFC tag, QR code, bicycle serial number, or similar product identifier for the purpose of tracking the location or movements of individual riders.
The technical OBDI specification may further define privacy, data-minimization, security, and interoperability requirements applicable to organizations implementing OBDI.
Comments
If comments are enabled and visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information entered into the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent information to assist with spam detection and website security.
An anonymized string created from an email address (sometimes called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether the commenter uses that service. If a comment is approved, a Gravatar profile image may be publicly visible alongside the comment.
Contact Forms, Mailing Lists, and Participation
If you contact OBDIspec.org, subscribe to updates, express interest in participating in the OBDI initiative, or submit information through a form, we may collect information such as your name, email address, organization, title, areas of interest, and the contents of your message.

Media

As OBDIspec.org and the OBDI specification develop, this Privacy Policy may be revised to reflect changes in website functionality, organizational structure, technology, or applicable privacy requirements.
